Number of Volunteers Needed:

7

Description:

Guest Reception welcomes all reserved guests to the Lake Shrine meditation gardens, Wednesday - Sunday. On arrival, first time visitors are given a short introduction to the Lake Shrine site, then they are directed to the Court of Religions for an orientation presentation on how to make the most of their visit. Guest Reception also ensures that guests are aware of guidelines and that they agree to follow them.

Qualifications:

Friendly, dignified, informative, and representative of the qualities Guruji teaches us to cultivate. Candidates do not need to be disciples, but must be well informed about Lake Shrine and familiar with Paramahansa Yogananda's over-all mission and purpose. Being part of the Temple congregation is important because representatives should be ready to answer questions and share first hand experience regarding Lake Shrine services and activities.

Training:

On site training is conducted during a Guest Reception shift on a Thursday (am or pm shift) or Sunday (pm shift) with Mickey and Gina Howell. Candidates will gain hands-on experience with coaching from the leaders. Studying local free literature and the Lake Shrine website will provide insight on features of Lake Shrine.

Commitment:

Every week or every other week. The morning shift runs from 10am - 11:30 am, and the afternoon shift is 1pm - 2:30pm. It is good practice to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of shift to pick up a radio, Lake Shrine brochures etc.
