A special Janmashtami celebration honoring Lord Krishna will be held at Lake Shrine this year. Special services have been designed to apprise each of us of Lord Krishna’s artful blend of divinity and humanity. Lord Krishna was a millennium man–a cowherd, a kshatriya, a prince and king, a diplomat–and for most of us, an avatar on our altar as one of our paramgurus. We hope you can join us for all or part of the festivities! The schedule of activities for the day is as follows:
9:00am: Sunday Service with stories of Lord Krishna and a guided meditation honoring the Lord Krishna that lives in everyone.
11:00am: Sunday Service with stories of Krishna, a special procession by the Sunday School children, a kirtan, and more!
12:00pm: Food Festival in the Courtyard and Special Events Room. A variety of Indian delights will be served to Lord Krishna’s guests. There will also be bindis, peacock feather temporary tattoos, a special photo area, and more!
12:30pm & 1:15pm: Live Bhajan Kirtan dedicated to Lord Krishna in the Special Events Room. Each set will last approximately 20 minutes.
Lake Shrine expects over 1,000 visitors to the Janmashtami Festival. If you live in or near the Pacific Palisades and would like to volunteer on Sunday, September 1st, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
He who perceives Me everywhere and beholds everything in Me never loses sight of Me, nor do I ever lose sight of him. (The Bhagavad Gita VI:30)
