Lake Shrine meditation garden and temple is the private property of Self-Realization Fellowship, maintained as a sanctuary and opened to the public as a courtesy for all to enjoy. It is recognized as an international sacred site by many religious leaders, disciples and students. Lake Shrine was founded by Paramahansa Yogananda as a place for meditation, prayer, and individual worship. The outdoor pathways and meditation benches provide a quiet environment for personal reflection and the indoor sanctuaries are for silent meditation and prayer.
We have friendly staff and volunteers serving throughout the site who can answer questions and provide information. We ask that you comply with any requests they may have.

DRESS CODE Modest and respectful attire means no revealing tops, tights or mini shorts; no shirts with obscene or vulgar messages. Sandals and flip flops are acceptable but must be worn at all times.
ADA SERVICE ANIMALS are those who have been trained to perform a specific task to assist with a disability. Staff on site will not ask for personal disability information, but will seek direct confirmation that the animal is trained and what assistance task it performs. Emotional support animals or pets are not allowed with or without commercially available authorization cards. It is a federal offense to misrepresent a pet as an ADA service animal. YOUNG CHILDREN are most welcome but must be under the supervision of an adult at all times. Boisterous behavior with loud voices, disturbs guests who are meditating and is not allowed. Small bags of free healthy food for feeding swans and fish are available at the Visitor Center. We thank you for not giving other food to the wildlife.
PHOTOGRAPHY for personal use is allowed, but staged photo and video shoots are not. This includes fashion posing and video recording for social media. The use of tripods and drones are considered disruptive and are not allowed.
ORGANIZED GROUP EVENTS or planned informal gatherings are not permitted. This includes group tributes, remembrances, scattering of ashes in the lake or garden. It also includes no informal business meetings with clients, individual or group therapy sessions.
